AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR: ZOLA
SHE/HER/HERS
TENACITY IS MY SUPERPOWER
Zola's life is all about kids; she has three, teaches art to hundreds, and is an author and illustrator to even more. Her passion for "all things kid," along with her love of reading and the arts, has led her down a wonderfully unconventional path. Zola was a Community Relations/Business Development Manager for Barnes & Noble, focusing on kid lit, schools, educator sales, book fairs, and author events; created Purple Tree Productions, working as an author/illustrator and graphic designer; presented literary workshops with WriteStuff Writers National Conferences; and fundraised on behalf of at-risk kids while working for national non-profits. Zola currently works as an Adaptive Art Teacher, having created the innovative and award-winning RISEART, an adaptive art program for special needs kids. Zola's primary focus is on Autism and Behavioral Education, teaching grades K-12, adapting National Visual Arts standards across all grade levels while integrating the arts and STEM subjects. Zola also educates Senior Pre-Art Therapy students from the University of Indianapolis, giving them art experience in a real-world setting.
“I believe that ALL children, no matter their ability, have the right to creative expression through art.”
